This unit introduces students to the occupational therapy process and the essential competencies which underpin this process. Emphasising person-centered and evidence-informed practice, students will develop critical thinking skills in assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation to support meaningful occupational participation. The unit explores the essential capabilities and competencies that underpin ethical and effective occupational therapy practice, including communication, and documentation. Students will also examine the role of interprofessional collaboration in enhancing client outcomes and learn strategies to foster effective working relationships within multidisciplinary teams. Through case-based learning and simulated practice, students will begin to integrate theory with practical skills in preparation for professional placement.
This unit is co-taught with 10301 Occupational Therapy Toolbox 1 PG.
