The main themes that are reflected within the work are nostalgia and childhood. It is a recurrence within adulthood for one to yearn for the years of their childhood, and this work portrays those feelings. The eldest subject looks down at the younger ones in a manner of wistfulness, wishing she could be in their place once again. The warm lighting within the photograph allows for a more nostalgic feel.
